A Lot On My Heart...

Well, I guess I don't really have a topic for this post. But I do have a LOT on my heart and I just thought I'd go ahead and share it with y'all. Hopefully y'all can make sense of it. I normally would put a post like this on my other blog, but it fits more with what we've been talking about on here. Sharon did give me a great idea to do some posts on modesty and such. I plan to do that soon, but I'm waiting for a book before I start. I think modesty does indeed have a HUGE impact on guy/girl relationships...but we'll get into that another time. : )

You know, as much as I wholeheartedly believe that the right way to go about a relationship is to fully wait on God, I still have times when I get rather discouraged and find the waiting even harder then normal. I see the teenagers around me pairing off and here's Katie...still waiting. I'm sure most of it is just a lack of faith, but that doesn't make it any easier. I have heard a lot of stories about how people of struggled with this and as soon as they've given the whole thing to God, they started to see God work in that area. Part of me says I already gave all that up, but another part of me knows that if I have really given it all to God then I shouldn't be struggling so much. I know I've still got some things to work on, but I pray that God helps me do that very soon. : )

I got a book for my birthday from a very dear little friend called 'The Princess and the kiss'. It's a children's book, but it has a very powerful truth in it. It's a fairy tale about a princess and how she saves her first kiss for the right person and right time. It was very cute, but also really encouraging. God has used a lot of little things like that to encourage me lately. Also, I'm thinking about starting a journal of letters for my future husband. I love to write, and I think maybe it might help me to write my thought about this time of waiting down for my future spouse to one day read. I'm not sure yet. Have any of you ever written letters to your future spouse? I'd like to hear your thoughts on it if you have. : )

I hope you don't mind my rambling for a minute...I'll be sure to get back to some 'normal' posts soon. : )

Oh, I have written letters to my future husband! It's been a while but I really enjoy doing that. :) My older sister Kathryn was about 16 or 17 when she wrote a letter to her future husband about how she had waited faithfully for him, etc. and then when she soon after she got engaged she gave the letter to her future husband. :) It was very sweet. I think it's a great idea!

Oh Katie! I can so relate to you! However, I feel that it has gotten better for me. Pray a whole lot! Give it all up to God.

Writing letters to your future husband is a good idea. I've done it before and plan on reading them to him when the Lord brings us together.

I received the same book (the Princes and the Kiss) a few years ago. Whenever I think about how most of the girls and guys I know are in 'relationships' I read it and find encouragement. I've also written letters to my future husband. It can bring me more encouragement to know that there is some one special person God has made for me that will receive these letters.

Thanks for another GREAT post!

Thank you so much, Katie, for this post. Just recently, I have felt discouraged in the same exact area you talked about, so thank you :)

Actually, I do have a separate journal for my future husband where I write various things to him about what is going on in my life, and telling him how much I love and appreciate him. It definitely helps having a journal I think, because then it shows you how special this person is that God will bless you with in His perfect timing. I enjoy writing in it from time to time.

Also, in addition, my mom and I went to this conference about five years ago I believe, and we were told by the speaker to write a letter to our husbands. Well, of course I wasn't married then :) so I just wrote one to my future husband. I haven't opened it, because I am waiting to give it to the one the Lord graciously blesses me with. :) My mom and I did this little activity at the beach and I ended up putting sand and sea shells in the envelope, so I don't know what the sea shells look like now after five or so years! ;D

Blessings, dear sister!

YES YES YES!!!!

Do the Journal thing! It helped me sooo much!!! WOW! I am so excited that other girls do this too!

The journal I started (which I may blog about now that I saw this!) was such a wonderful thing! I'm still doing it, even though I do write Justin letters. It was such relief to "write to him" even if I didn't know who he was. My goal, to give it to him on the honeymoon.

I wrote all sorts of things, dreams, hopes, burdens, prayers, songs, and poems.

When I was in the process of surrendering it all to God I realized I could "fall in Love" without knowing who he was to be. I prayed for this nameless, faceless, person and just honestly loved someone I didn't know.

And then, I met him. Now I pray for a person who has a name, a face, and a soul.

I'm thinking about doing more posts on my own courting process... leave me a comment at my blog and let me know what you think... what does a young lady like you want to know about the practice of an actual courtship?

Thanks for all the comments y'all!

Sharon,
That is really sweet! I love the idea of writing them, but I think it will be amazingly sweet to give them to him one day!

Paulina,
Thank so much for the post you did today! It was really encouraging!

Michaila,
I do love the book! And it was so sweet to come from the little girl that gave it to me. It's a huge encouragement!

Rachel,
So glad the post was a help to you. And I had an extra journal laying around my room so I did start writing letters and I have really really enjoyed it!

Rebecca,
THANK YOU SO MUCH! God used your comment to show me that it is okay for me to love him even tho I don't know him. I had been struggling with whether that was right or not, but God has made that clear!

Katy,
Glad this post encouraged you! I visited your blog, and really liked it! Thanks for stopping by and commenting!

ALL OF YOU:
I did start the journal, and have LOVED it so far! Just realizing that I can ask God to nurture and strengthen the love for my future husband now has helped a lot.

Amen Katie Marie!
Just imagine the sweetness of that moment when you give this book to him, he will be so amazed to read the letters of love, from a young Lady who at the time had not yet met him! It will be a testimony of how you kept your heart for him, and trusted in God.

I told Justin about my journal several months ago, :) his response was one of total amazement and joy, and he told me he is looking forward to reading it someday.

May God richly bless you, and your special someone!!!!
